Palmer started a stretch of three nonconference matches with a 3-0 (25-18,25-13,25-22) sweep of the West Valley Wolfpack at Palmer High School on Wednesday.
“They played well, limited their mistakes and looked good,” a pleased Palmer head coach Steve Reynolds said of his team’s performance. “We have two more out-of-conference games coming up and it will be good experience going into regional play.”

“(Palmer) played much faster down here and directed their shots really well,” said West Valley head coach Dave Cox.
He added that once the Moose really found their rhythm, they never relented.
“I was impressed with my girls response defensively, we hung in there but unforced errors and mistakes just killed us,” Cox said.
The Wolfpack were also using the nonconference match to prepare for their upcoming Mid-Alaska Conference tournament.
“We traveled down here specifically to be challenged. You do not really find that kind of speed up there,” said Cox, referring to West Valley’s competition in the Interior.
Reynolds had the same mindset.
“With a two more out of conference games before regionals it is a nice setup,” Reynolds said.
The Moose, who traveled to Chugiak to play the Mustangs on Thursday, host Dimond in their regular-season finale on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at PHS.
The Wolfpack’s stay in the Valley concludes with a match at Houston High School tonight at 5 p.m.
