Charles was born Aug. 22, 1937 in Norfolk, Va., to Charles and Margaret Brown. He is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, class of 1961.
Charles first came to Alaska in 1965 where he lived in Cordova and Anchorage and had been a Wasilla resident since 1987.

Charles was a lifetime member of Masonic Temple Glacier Lodge No. 10.
His family wrote, “Charles was a loving and caring father and husband who touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all.”
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law, David and Rebecca Brown of Anchorage; son, Daniel Brown of Big Lake; grandchildren Cameron and Emily Brown of Anchorage, Ashlyn and Rylie Hernandez of Anchorage; and sister, Florence Reber of Engelhard, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, mother, Margaret, and his daughter, Jamie Lynn.
Memorial donations may be sent to the National MS Society, 511 W. 41st Ave. Ste. 101 Anchorage, AK 99503. His ashes will be scattered at Mount Susitna where his daughter Jamie Lynn is at rest.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
