Job Corps awards

 

At a recent San Francisco Regional Leadership Conference for Job Corps, the Alaska Job Corps Center received three awards for the 2008 program year.

Job Corps Centers are graded monthly in 11 areas and ranked accordingly. The Alaska Job Corps Center received awards for being the No. 1 center in the country for graduate average wage, the top center in the country for six-month weekly earnings and the region’s highest ranked transitions services operator.

Teen honored at FFA event

Lydia Shumakerof the Palmer High School FFA Chapter won a bronze award in public speaking at the national FFA convention. The competition was held in Indianapolis Oct. 21-24.
