Group featuring baton classes

The Alaskaneete Baton and Show Corps is hosting beginner baton twirling classes in Palmer and Wasilla.

The weekly classes, intended for children ages 5-12, are held at the Swanson Elementary gymnasium in Palmer and Iditarod Elementary gymnasium in Wasilla every Monday. For more information, call 349-5222 or e-mail alaskanettes@yahoo.com.

Miners schedule dinner and auction

The Mat-Su Miners will host their sixth-annual dinner and auction Nov. 14 at Evangelo’s Restaurant in Wasilla.

The auction preview is set for 6 p.m. and the dinner will start at 7 p.m. The buffet meal includes beef tenderloin, chicken marsala, garlic mashed potatoes, alfredo pasta, garden and Ceasar salad, New York cheesecake and Evangelo’s chocolate mousse.

The event will feature both silent and live auctions, as well as the chance to win door prizes. Tickets are $40 per person or $280 for a table of eight.

Palmer in search of soccer coach

Palmer High School is in search of a coach to lead its girls soccer program.

Those interested are asked to submit a letter of interest and resume to PHS activities director Jeff Thiede at jeff.thiede@matsuk12.us no later than Oct. 30.
