In a public press release today from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, the flavors of Peanut Crunch, Dutch Apple and Wildberry have been deemed unsafe for public consumption due to possible Salmonella contamination and should not be eaten.
“In a voluntary recall from the manufacturer, alerting distributors, suppliers and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation we started a recall over the past weekend,” said Ron Klein, program manager of the DEC.

Salmonella infection can be a life threatening illness with “symptoms of diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fevers within eight to 72 hours ... Consumers with questions or concerns about their health should contact their doctor,” according to the press release.
No illnesses have been reported so far in association with granola bar’s possible contamination.
