All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police departments' press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

STATE TROOPERS

DRUGS

Feb. 5, 2:05 p.m., Mile 47 Parks Hwy.: James David Kroener, 22, Wasilla, was summonsed at a traffic stop for marijuana possession. Citation: no proof of insurance.

Feb. 6, Wasilla: Troopers, the Drug Enforcement Agency and Homeland Security descended on a home and found 23 grams of MDMA/ecstacy with digital scales and packaging materials. Arrested were Robin Gattis, 18, Wasilla, and Bren Marx, 19, Wasilla. Charges: MICS. Bail: $10,000 each with CAPTC.

ACCIDENTS

Feb. 6, 2:30 p.m., East Inner Springer Lp. and East Outer Springer Lp.: Matthew Watkins, 21, Palmer, was westbound driving a yellow 2007 Pontiac G5 when he hit a gray 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Laura Jausoro, 41, Palmer, who was stopped in traffic waiting to turn left. Total vehicle damage: $3,000. No injuries. Watkins cited for not exercising due care.

Feb. 7, 5:23 p.m., Parks Hwy. near Hyer Rd.: Rhonda Atkins, 64, Wasilla, was northbound driving a blue 2005 Chevy Impala when she hit a white 2001 Chevy van driven by Nikolay Golyan, 43, Wasilla. Damage to both vehicles: $1,000. No injuries. No citations.

Feb. 7, 7:30 p.m., Parks Hwy. near Vienna Woods Access: Rebekah Hershman, 20, Palmer, was southbound driving a gold 2007 Ford Focus when Chad Jensen, 27, Wasilla, pulled out of Vienna Woods to head southbound in a red 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Total vehicle damage: $3,000. Hershman was hospitalized with minor injuries and cited for not wearing a seatbelt. Jensen was cited for not yielding.

Feb. 7, 9:45 p.m., Trunk Rd. and Parks Hwy.: Robin McCarty, 30, Wasilla, was westbound driving a gray 1998 Chevy minivan westbound when she rear-ended a white 2002 Dodge Interceptor that Kaleigh Bastein, 18, Wasilla, was driving. Summons for McCarty: DWLS. Citation for McCarty: following too close.

Feb. 8, 3:13 p.m., Cherri Lakes Dr. and Ray St.: Jesse Adam Bieschke, 34, Houston, was northbound driving his blue 1994 Jeep Cherokee when he rear-ended a yellow 2006 Ford bus driven by Jeremy William Taylor, 36, Palmer, who was pulling into a driveway. No injuries. Both vehicles had minor damage. Bieschke was cited for not exercising due care.

DWLS

Feb. 3, Wasilla: Debra Schantz, 49, Palmer, was stopped for allegedly running a red light. Summons: DWLS.

Feb. 8, 9:54 p.m., Parks Hwy., Wasilla: Jeremiah Sehl, 37, Wasilla, was stopped for an equipment violation. Summons: DWLR.

Feb. 9, 1:55 a.m., Wasilla: Doyle Walker, 57, Wasilla, was stopped for an equipment violation. Summons: DWLR.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Feb. 5, 10:55 p.m., N. Cottonwood Lp.: Keenan E. Remele, 59, Wasilla, was found to have died of natural causes.

Feb. 5, 11:40 a.m., Glenn Hwy. in Chickaloon: Darlene Boyle, 65, Chickaloon, was found to have died of natural causes.

DUI

Feb. 5, 4:03 a.m., Parks Hwy. near Lucus Rd.: Desiree P. Hacker, 32, Wasilla, reported the pickup in front of her might have a drunk driver at the wheel. Troopers found her and the pickup and allegedly saw her driving recklessly. Both were pulled over at Wasilla-Fishhook and Creste Foris St. Desiree Hacker allegedly got into a fight with the pickup driver, Jerad P. Hacker, 31, Wasilla. Charges for Desiree: reckless driving. Charge for Jerad: DUI. Bail: $500 each.

Feb. 6, 6:52 p.m., Mile 4.5 Willow-Fishhook Rd.: Vince Roy Neal Jr., 63, Willow, rolled his red 1996 Nissan pickup onto its side and was trying to remove it when troopers arrived. Charge: DUI. Bail: $5,000.

WILDLIFE VIOLATIONS

Feb. 5, Finger Lake: Willis C. Walunga, 37, Anchorage, was allegedly fishing without a license.

Feb. 5, Wasilla: Frank Knutson, 38, Wasilla, was cited for allegedly not turning in his hunting permit in time.

Feb. 5, Wasilla: Gregory Fullmer, 55, Palmer, was cited for allegedly not turning in his hunting permit in time.

Feb. 5, Wasilla: Lucas Steward, 30, Wasilla, allegedly falsely stated on his fishing/hunting license that he'd lived in the state more than a year.

THEFT

Feb. 7, 6:50 a.m., Sutton: A business was burglarized, the front door damaged and cash was stolen from inside.

Feb. 7, 8:45 a.m., Wasilla-Fishhook Rd.: A white 2008 Ford F-150 with pink racing stripes was stolen from a neighborhood.

Feb. 7, 9:32 p.m., Wasilla: A wallet with $40 cash inside was taken from an unlocked vehicle near Church on the Rock. One of the credit cards was used at a gas station later that night.

Feb. 8, 12:15 p.m., Sasbo Bluff Dr.: Someone broke into a home and stole $60 worth of stuff.

WARRANTS

Feb. 6, 7 a.m., Birch Cove Dr.: Daniel Derr, 32, Houston, was arrested on warrants for assault and violating probation. Bail: $6,000.

Feb. 7, 11:50 p.m., Crestwood Ave.: Helen Black, 29, Wasilla, was arrested at a disturbance on a warrant. Original charge: DUI. Bail: $1,000.

Feb. 9, 12 p.m., Wasilla: Richard Burks, 37, was arrested on a $500 warrant for not completing alcohol treatment.
