PALMER - At 10:00 a.m., on New Year's Day, 38-year-old Denys Abramov was arraigned on charges of Murder 2 and Misconduct Involving Weapons 4 in Palmer Court for possession while intoxicated and MICS 5 for Failure to Inform Officer following the incident during the early morning of New Year's Eve. The Wasilla Police Department received a report at about 4:00 a.m., Abramov had shot and killed his mother, 60-year-old Ohla Abramova. The report came from Abramov himself as he walked into the WPD station early on Tuesday morning and contacted WPD officers. Abramov was carrying a handgun and had fresh blood on his hands, giving statements that he harmed a member of his family.
Abramov appeared before judge John Cagle and was charged with Murder 2 and Misconduct Involving a Weapon 4 and 5 and taken to Mat-Su Pretrial. It is unclear when Abramov will appear in court again. WPD searched the area near Bogard Road and Dellwood Avenue and found the body of Abramova, deceased with a single gunshot wound to the chest. WPD was assisted by the Alaska State Troopers in the processing of the crime scene and according to a press release issued by WPD, the incident appears to be an isolated domestic incident and no further danger to the public exists.
