WASILLA — Esther Golton and James Kloss recently created a GoFundMe to support Birch Creek Ranch, a Talkeetna business that lost the main farmhouse, a plow truck and nearby sheds in a fire Oct. 11.

Funds raised will go towards clean up expenses and replacing items lost in the fire, according to the GoFundMe page. It will cover short term and long term needs as the ranch works to rebuild from the ashes.

“Farming is a tough bet. Anyone who knows Brian Kingsbury, and his parents Alan and Leilani who started Birch Creek Ranch in 1981, has witnessed the resilience, hard work, and persistence of the farming life. Together, with the help of many hands from near and far, they carved a beautiful and bountiful farm out of the Alaska wilderness,” stated on the GoFundMe page.

So far, 70 donors have raised $7,635 of the $15,000 goal.
