Now that spring has sprung, the sun is out later and the temperatures are starting to stay above freezing, people have also shown signs of emerging and taking in the natural Vitamin D and getting some exercise. Some take walks, ride bicycles, or swap snow machines for an ATV. But some prefer the gym with trainers and staff
Motivation Sport Fitness just might fit the bill. The newest option for fitness opened April 1. Located off Palmer-Wasilla Highway, next to Ray’s Childcare and Learning, of which there is only the coincidence of the name Ray, the new gym is veteran-owned and operated by Raymond Earle.
“After the military, I let go, gained some weight. When I lost it and got back in shape, I figured why not give back, share what I know,” when asked about his motivation.
Earle is a certified fitness trainer and a competitive bodybuilder himself, and the gym offers gear designed for powerlifting, functional weight loss, and more.
The gym has just about everything you might expect to find-various, almost-intimidating weight machines, dumbbells ranging from 5 to 125 pounds, cardio machines. But it is also a place where upon entering, there was no judgement from the clientele, or from Earle.
“Everyone is different, so I don’t do the same thing for everyone. I like to have individualized plans, but also keep them changing, engineered for every person,” Earle said.
The facility is available 24 hours, with security measures in place, and Earle is on hand most days for whatever comes up. While the gym has only been open a few days, Earle has plans for expansion, including a yoga instructor and a massage therapist.
