Hanukkah, the festival of lights, is the most widely celebrated of all Jewish holidays. The festival marks the freedom of expression, commemorating the Jewish victory against religious persecution – “Light over Might.” Thanks to the great vision of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Public Menorah lightings are hosted all over the world and symbolize the universal message of cultural tolerance, diversity, and the ultimate victory victory of light over darkness through spreading goodness and kindness to all.

In addition to the Menorah on Wasilla Lake, this year the Mat-Su Jewish Center will be placing a 9-foot Menorah in downtown Palmer. We will be lighting the Menorah in Palmer every night of Hannukah, beginning Saturday, December 24th at 6:30 PM, and throughout the week at 5:30 PM. The Palmer Menorah is co-sponsored by Janet Kincaid, Randi Perlman, and an anonymous sponsor.
