Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

October 3 at 9:30 a.m., AST at Palmer Judicial Services arrested 20-year-old Mosiah Renk of Wasilla on an outstanding FTA warrant. Renk was taken to MSPT with five days to serve.

October 4 at 11:23 a.m., AST received a report that 59” moose antlers were stolen from Birch Lake Drive in Big Lake. The case is currently under investigation.

October 4 at 3:57 p.m., AST arrested Aron Jonz and took him to MSPT on $3,000 bail for six outstanding arrest warrants.

October 4 at 9:26 p.m., AST arrested 62-year-old Bryant Small of Houston for DUI in a blue Chevy pickup at the intersection of the Parks Highway and the Old Parks Highway outside of willow. Small was taken to MSPT.

October 4 at 6:39 p.m., AST and patrol from the CSU responded to Williwaw Way in Wasilla after receiving an anonymous tip and arrested 46-year-old Lisa Terry on outstanding arrest warrants. Terry was taken to MSPT on $3,000 cash bail.

October 4 at 11:52 p.m., AST arrested 33-year-old Cody Ives of Big Lake on outstanding arrest warrants on Halston Avenue in Big Lake. Ives was taken to MSPT with 10 days to serve.

October 4 at 3:00 a.m., AST arrested 21-year-old Calvin Wolder-Heussner of Wasilla at a residence on Halston Avenue in Big Lake for an outstanding arrest warrant for the O/C of Burglary 2. Wolder-Heussner was taken to MSPT on $2,500 bail.

October 5 at 12:45 a.m., AST arrested 29-year-old Joshua Beasley of Wasilla for an outstanding arrest warrant on the O/C of DUI after stopping Beasley’s 1997 Ford sedan for an equipment violation on the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Beasley was taken to MSPT.

October 4 at 6:39 p.m., AST from Palmer Patrol and the CSU arrested 27-year-old Matthew Buckalew of Wasilla on Williwaw Way. Buckalew who had two outstanding arrest warrants and was taken to MSPT on time to serve.

October 5, AST arrested 33-year-old Dustin Peters of Anchorage for Trespass 1, Assault 4, Resisting Arrest and Escape 4. AST responded to Long Lake Road for a report of a man attempting to access a vehicle on a person’s property and shortly after, AST found Peters walking on the Parks Highway. Peters was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 5 at 9:28 a.m., AST received a report of $1,000 of items stolen from a property on Birch View Drive in Wasilla.

October 6 at 2:45 a.m., AST recovered two stolen vehicles from Anchorage and two ATV’s while following up at a residence on Edelweiss Drive.

October 6 at 12:20 a.m., AST arrested 30-year-old Lance Wares of Wasilla for Assault 4 (DV) and Criminal Mischief 5 after injuring a family member and damaging property near Polaris Drive in Wasilla. Wares was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 6 at 4:33 a.m., AST arrested 41-year-old Clifford Albrecht of Anchorage on an existing arrest warrant on the O/C of MICS 4. 18-year-old Mark Shetters of Anchorage was in possession of controlled substances. AST stopped Albrecht’s red 1989 Chevy Camaro for multiple equipment violations. Albrecht was arrested and taken to MSPT on $250 bail and Shetters was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 5 at 5:57 p.m., AST arrested 43-year-old Heath Olin of Anchorage on outstanding arrest warrants for Escape and the O/C of Assault 2. Olin was taken to MSPT on $7,500 bail after being stopped for multiple violations near Foothills Boulevard and Rangeview Drive in Wasilla.

October 6 at 12:23 a.m., AST arrested 55-year-old Abraham Weidman of Wasilla at a residence on John Hale Circle in Big Lake on an existing arrest warrant for the O/C of Felony DUI. Weidman was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 6 at 4:38 p.m., AST pursued 36-year-old Jacob Still of Wasilla after receiving a report of a burglary and theft on Fox Loop in Big Lake. AST were unable to contact Still, even with a K9 unit. 24-year-old Cameron Newland of Big Lake was arrested on scene on charges from other burglary investigations. Newland was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 7 at 3:15 a.m., AST arrested Ryan Calhoun-Moudy in the parking lot of Tesoro in Talkeetna. Calhoun-Moudy had an outstanding warrant for Escape and was in possession of crystal-meth and was taken to MSPT on $2,500 bail.

October 7 at 10:10 p.m., AST received a report that $1,000 of 7/16” OSB plywood was stolen from a construction site off Hillside Drive in Big Lake. Thieves also stole a game camera set up to monitor the property.

October 3 at 12:00 p.m., 45-year-old John Denny was arrested for his involvement in trafficking and distribution of controlled substances and taken to MSPT without bail on charges of MICS 2 and two counts of MICS 3. Investigators with the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit and AST in the CSU arrested Denny following execution of multiple search warrants. Investigation is ongoing.

September 30 at 2:00 p.m., AST received a report and investigated fuel theft and aircraft damage at the Willow airport. Someone siphoned fuel from multiple planes and stole items from inside the aircraft, as well as a pickup truck.

October 2 at 2:26 p.m., AST received a report of two stolen ATV’s, a trailer, and a boat stolen from Denali View Drive in Willow. One ATV was recovered in the area.

October 3, AST determined that a 1998 Dodge Dakota stolen from the Willow airport had been stolen and used in a separate burglary in the Willow area. On October 7 at 12:15 a.m., the vehicle was recovered in the Big Lake area.

October 5 at 8:57 p.m., AST received a report that someone had broken into and stolen items from a residence on Dolly Varden Drive in the Caswell area of Willow.

October 6 at 11:21 p.m., AST arrested two men after stopping a 1997 green Nissan for an equipment violation. The driver, 27-year-old Zachary South of Wasilla, had an outstanding Theft 2 warrant. The passenger, 55-year-old Michael Williams of Wasilla, also had an outstanding warrant. Both were taken to MSPT.

October 6 at 1:08 p.m., AST received a report that someone had stolen several security cameras on Bald Eagle Way in Willow.

October 6 at 1:54 p.m., AST arrested 32-year-old Jeremiah Terrel of Caswell on an ATV on Caswell Loop near Keystone Drive in Willow. Terrel was VCOR and taken to MSPT.

October 6 at 6:39 p.m., AST received a report that someone had broken into and stolen items from a residence on Eaglet Circle in the Caswell area of Willow.

October 6 at 7:08 p.m., AST received a report that someone had broken into and tried to steal a motorhome on property on Brokealine Drive in the Caswell area of Willow.

October 7, AST arrested 35-year-old Rya Burkhart of Wasilla for DUI. Burkhart was walking away from a truck that had driven over an embankment on Soapstone Road in Palmer. Burkhart was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

October 8 at 2:49 p.m., AST received a report that someone stole approximately $400 in property from Gold Creek Circle in Palmer.

October 8 at 7:13 p.m., AST arrested 33-year-old Shawn Hansen of Palmer on Tustin Street in the Butte for Assault 4 (DV) after assaulting someone in the house. Hansen was taken to MSPT.

October 8 at 11:41 p.m., AST arrested 19-year-old Corey Holsclaw of Wasilla for DUI and MOCA. AST received a report of a dangerous driver in a blue Dodge Caliber at a gas station near mile 49 of the Parks Highway with two potentially intoxicated males inside. Holsclaw was taken to MPST and released O/R.

October 9 at 1:00 a.m., AST received a report that someone attempted to break into and burgle a business off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.

October 9 at 4:20 a.m., AST arrested 40-year-old Jacqueline Garza of Wasilla for DUI. Garza was stopped in a blue Volkswagen Jetta for driving without lights on the Parks Highway near Lamont Road in Wasilla and taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

October 10 at 10:15 a.m., AST at Palmer Judicial Services allowed 38-year-old Jesse Pyhala of Wasilla turn himself in on an outstanding $1,000 warrant on the O/C of Criminal Mischief 3. Pyhala was taken to MSPT.

ALASKA WILDLIFE TROOPERS

September 14, AWT received a report that a cow moose with a calf had been shot near Petersville road the night before. 19-year-old Matthew Cheney of Palmer had shot the moose from a vehicle parked on the roadway and AWT seized the meat, the rifle, the ammunition, and the skinning knife. The meat was donated to charity and Cheney was issued a summons in Palmer Court for taking a cow moose closed season. Other charges were forwarded to the DAO for Cheney and other members of his hunting party.

September 27, AWT contacted 53-year-old Donald Hartman of Grand Rapids, Michigan after Hartman self-reported that he took a sub-legal moose near the confluence of the Susitna and Yetna Rivers on September 24. Hartman’s antlers were seized and the meat was donated to charity and he was issued a summons in Palmer court.

WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

September 28 at 5:54 p.m., WPD received a report that someone had drilled the fuel tank of a vehicle parked in the Starbucks parking lot on East Parks Highway to steal fuel, which ruined the tank.

September 29 at 12:08 p.m., WPD received a report that someone cut the power lines at the Sub Station Cafe on South Knik-Goose Bay Road.

September 29 at 1:06 p.m., WPD arrested Anthony Hall for Assault 2 and 3 (DV) after an assault on East Blind Nick Drive. Hall was taken to MSPT without bail.

September 29 at 1:24 p.m., WPD received a report that two hand guns had been stolen from Sourdough Pawn & Gun on the West Parks Highway.

September 29 at 11:38 p.m., WPD arrested Brandon Perkins for DUI and failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer 2 after attempting to stop Perkins driving without headlights or taillights near Wasilla Fishhook Road and Nelson Avenue.

October 2 at 10:43 a.m., WPD forwarded charges to the DAO of Assault 3, Violating a Protective Order, Assault 4 and Criminal Trespassing 1 for Kenneth Hannaman after receiving a report of an assault on West Ponderosa Loop. Hannamah left the scene prior to WPD arrival.

October 2 at 5:43 p.m., WPD arrested Michael Evans for Domestic Violence Criminal Trespassing 1 after receiving a report that Evans was at the residence after being told not to return. Evans was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 2 at 10:06 p.m., WPD received a report that Skyler Bragg had touched a female emergency responder inappropriately while being treated. Bragg was charged with Harassment 1 through the DAO.

October 3 at 8:50 a.m., WPD received a report that someone broke into and stole $10,000-$12,000 in items from Kendall Ford.

October 3 at 11:37 p.m., WPD arrested Vlasy Kutsev for DUI on the intersection of the Parks Highway and Knik Street. Kutsev was taken to MSPT.

October 4 at 1:44 a.m., WPD arrested Marjorie Sullivan for her fifth DUI offense, a felony. Sullivan was asleep behind the wheel of a gold sedan in the turn lane with no lights on and additionally charged with DWLR. Sullivan was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 4 at 10:11 a.m., WPD charged Brandon Sim for DV 4 after responding to a reported disturbance at J & J independent Living on South Roberts Street.

October 4 at 5:34 p.m., WPD received a report of an intoxicated female attempting to pick up her children and arrested Alisha Bennett (AKA Lisa Murphy) for DUI and took her to MSPT. The children were picked up by a sober adult.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

October 1, PPD responded to a report of illicit drug use in a vehicle in the Carrs parking lot.

October 2, PPD arrested 23-year-old James Compton of Palmer for Failure to Remand on the O/C of DUI. Compton was taken to MSPT.

October 3, PPD arrested 53-year-old Ginger Winter of Trapper Creek for Assault 4 and took her to MSPT.

October 5, PPD arrested 20-year-old Cameron McCarthy of Palmer for Theft 4, Escape 4, Assault 4, and Resisting Arrest. McCarthy was taken to MSPT without bail.
