Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police department press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

October 3 at 12:25 a.m., AST arrested 25-year-old Richard Hamlin of Wasilla for Criminal Mischief 5 (DV) following a report of a disturbance on Williwaw Way in Wasilla.

October 2 at 11:10 p.m., AST arrested 34-year-old Jason Wells of Wasilla on an outstanding arrest warrant near Pioneer Peak Drive in Wasilla. Wells was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

October 3 at 6:39 p.m., AST arrested 20-year-old Joseph Lipscomb of Wasilla for Assault 4 (DV) following a response to a business off of Knik-Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. Lipscomb was taken to MSPT without bail.

October 3 at 11:54 p.m., AST arrested 30-year-old Christopher Hartman of Wasilla for DUI and Refusal. Hartman was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

October 5 at 1:17 a.m., AST arrested 40-year-old Lindsey Bell of Willow for DUI following a traffic stop near mile 7 of Talkeetna Spur Road. After the arrest, Bell was additionally charged with Assault 4 on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. During Bell’s arrest, 42-year-old Jamey Gioffre of Willow exited the vehicle and was subsequently arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief 4. Both were taken to MSPT, Gioffre was released O/R and Bell was held on $500 bail.

October 4 at 3:41 p.m., AST arrested 23-year-old Matthew Rich of Wasilla near mile 50 of the Parks Highway during an active burglary. Another male fled prior to AST arrival, but Rich was charged with Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief and taken to MSPT.

October 6 at 1:04 a.m., AST arrested 25-year-old Dylan McRee of Willow following a traffic stop on Spruce Avenue and Lucus Road in Wasilla. McRee had a warrant on the O/C of Assault 4 and Interfering with the report of a DV crime and taken to MSPT on $100 bail.

October 6 at 12:43 p.m., AST received a report of a stolen firearm from a vehicle on Spring Creek Circle in Palmer after receiving numerous other reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the area.

October 2 at 11:38 p.m., AST arrested 41-year-old Ricky Luker of Wasilla for VCOR and DWLS following a traffic stop for an equipment violation near mile 2 of Big Lake Road. Luker was taken to MSPT.

October 6 at 11:00 p.m., AST arrested 45-year-old Rhonda Hughes of Wasilla for DUI after observing erratic driving on Bogard Road. Hughes was additional charged with Refusal and taken to MSPT where she was released O/R.

October 8 at 12:19 a.m., AST arrested 32-year-old Gordon Kamholz of Houston on an outstanding warrant for FTC on the O/C of DUI after Kamholz was contacted at a gravel pit in Big Lake. Gordon was taken to MSPT on $2,500 cash/corporate bail.

October 8 at 3:45 p.m., AST arrested 49-year-old Kenneth Lucas of Sutton on an outstanding warrant for Assault after he was discovered rummaging through property near the Parks Highway and Pittman Road. Lucas was taken to MSPT on the warrant.

October 8 at 1:32 p.m., AST arrested 36-year-old Bobby Sickler of Wasilla after responding to an active burglary on Mid Valley Way in Houston. Sickler was charged with Burglary 1, Criminal Mischief 3 and 4, Criminal Trespass 1, three counts of Assault 3 and Resisting Arrest and taken to MSPT without bail.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

October 1, PPD arrested 25-year-old Megan Lambert of Palmer for Criminal Trespass 2. Lambert was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

October 2, PPD arrested 43-year-old Scott Campbell of Palmer for Assault 3. Campbell was taken to MSPT. October 2, PPD arrested 32-year-old Jorden Bishop of Wasilla on a $750 FTA warrant on the O/C of Attempted Theft 2 and VCOR. Bishop was taken to MSPT.

October 3, PPD issued a summons to 84-year-old Patsy Malone of Palmer for DWLC.

October 5, PPD arrested 48-year-old Jon Gerton of Palmer for DUI. Gerton was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

October 6, PPD issued a summons to 51-year-old Kelly Stocker of Anchorage for OVLI.

WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

September 30 at 12:04 a.m., WPD responded to a report of of a person asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle near Rupee Circle. Charges were forwarded to the DAO on Megan Kitter for MICS.

September 30 at 3:28 p.m., WPD impounded the vehicle reported as suspicious at the Seward Meridian Park and Ride and found 35-year-old James Leseman and 30-year-old Kaile Lewis, both of Wasilla. Charges may be forwarded to the DAO following the analysis of substances that were submitted to the ASCL for identification.

September 30 at 6:47 p.m., WPD issued a citation to Miryah Harmon for DWLS and DWLI.

October 1 at 12:31 p.m., WPD received a report of 23-year-old Ashley Cobb who attempted to shoplift and assaulted LP. Charges of Assault 4 and Theft 4 will be forwarded to the DAO.

October 1 at 2:42 p.m., WPD charged 23-year-old Lindzi Vander Bie of Wasilla with Trespass 2 and Concealment of Merchandise at Value Village through the DAO.

October 1 at 6:54 p.m., WPD arrested 51-year-old Milton Peery II for DUI after he was reported as a dangerous driver. Peery failed FST’s and provided a breath sample of .2111 and taken to MSPT.

October 2 at 10:22 a.m., WPD arrested Jacqueline Alstrom following a welfare check. Alstrom was charged with MICS 5 and taken to MSPT on $500 cash performance bail.

October 2, WPD forwarded charges of DVPO Violation and Harassment 2 to the DAO for 32-year-old Cheryl Hill of Anchorage.

October 2 at 9:23 p.m., WPD arrested 21-year-old Amanda Edwards who failed to stop for emergency lights. Edwards provided a breath sample of .98 and was charged with DUI and DWLR from a previous DUI and taken to MSPT.

October 3 at 1:55 a.m., WPD issued a summons to Paige Whitney of Wasilla for MICS.

October 4 at 6:53 a.m., WPD responded to Walmart to issue warnings to Rosebud Sweeny, who had previously been trespassed. At 7:50 a.m., WPD received a separate report and arrested Sweeny for Criminal Trespass 2. Sweeny was taken to MSPT.

October 4 at 2:29 p.m., WPD forwarded charges of Theft 4 to the DAO for Jake Seaman after he attempted to shoplift from Target and escape from LP.

October 4 at 9:18 p.m., WPD forwarded one charge of Theft 4 to the DAO on 28-year-old Kristian towns of Wasilla after a theft from Walmart.

October 4 at 9:47 p.m., WPD charged 29-year-old Tony Chulin of Wasilla with Criminal Trespass 2 through the DAO.

October 5 at 3:10 a.m., WPD arrested 28-year-old Nicholas Baker for DUI after he was found unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle. Baker was taken to MSPT.
