Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police department press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

May 14 at 12:30 p.m, the Gilroy Police Department out of California alerted AST in Palmer that two subjects in the area had extraditable warrants out of California. At 3:30 p.m., AST with the CSU, SCIU and GIU arrested 23-year-old Brianna Northan and 38-year-old Greg Legras who both had felony warrants for Violation of Physical Custody or Visitation Decrees and Child Abduction. Both Legras and Northam were taken to MSPT pending extradition back to California on charges of Fugitive from Justice. Troopers contacted a three-year-old who was transferred to OCS custody.

May 14 at 2:15 p.m., AST received a report of a stolen 26-foot-long flatbed trailer from a residence off Wilderness drive at some point last winter.

May 14 at 9:55 p.m., AST received a report of trespassing near Rainbow Park Drive in Wasilla and arrested 33-year-old Victor Waag of Wasilla who had previously been trespassed for life. Waag was arrested and taken to MSPT on charges of Criminal Trespass (DV).

May 16 at 1:33 a.m., AST arrested 41-year-old Destiny Stark of Sutton following a traffic stop on Bogard Road and Dellwood Drive in Wasilla. Stark had two outstanding FTA warrants on the O/C of Theft 4 and was taken to MSPT on $100 bail.

May 16 at 4:06 a.m., AST received a report of a disturbance and arrested 21-year-old Kortnee Anelon of Palmer at a residence on South River Drive in Palmer. Anelon was taken to MSPT on charges of Assault 4 (DV) and Harassment 2 (DV) pending arraignment.

May 19 at 8:24 a.m., AST received a report of property damage and theft sometime between May 15 at 700 a.m. and May 16 at 7:30 a.m. The suspect damaged $400 worth of property and stole over $10,000 in property.

May 19 at 2:23 p.m., AST responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and arrested 31-year-old Crystal Snider of Wasilla. Snider performed FST’s poorly and providing a breath sample of .298. Snider was charged with DUI and taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

May 19 at 2:55 p.m., AST responded to a residence on Red Fox Drive in Wasilla and forwarded charges for 55-year-old Roland Kroener of Wasilla. Kroener allegedly charged a neighbor with a splitting maul and charges of Assault 3 were forwarded to the Palmer DAO.

May 19 at 5:25 p.m., AST responded to Three Bears in Meadow Lakes for 25-year-old Korby Moorman who was a shoplifter in custody. Moorman had three outstanding arrests for FTA totaling $400 and was taken to MSPT.

May 19 at 9:17 p.m., AST responded to an ATV rollover on Wasilla Fishhook Road in Wasilla. Troopers arrested 24-year-old Kristopher Adams of Wasilla for DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. Adams was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

May 19, AST received a report that 42-year-old Tanya Steele of Wasilla was violating her court ordered release conditions by contacting the victim of a DV crime. Troopers are unable to contact Steele and charges were forwarded to the DAO.

May 20 at 12:32 a.m., AST arrested 40-year-old James Dove of Wasilla on an outstanding warrant for FTA on the O/C of Theft 2. Dove was taken to MSPT on $500 cash bail.

May 20 at 8:00 a.m., AST received a report that Crazy brand roller skates valued at $500 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Forest Grove Circle in Palmer. The skates are black with blue laces and green wheels.

May 20 at 8:20 a.m., AST investigated the theft of a Chevy van from a residence off France Road in Palmer, which was stolen between 3:15 at 8:15 a.m.

May 20 at 12:14 p.m., AST responded to Pioneer Peak Drive in Wasilla and arrested 32-year-old Matthew Smith of Wasilla. Smith was taken to MSPT on charges of Criminal Mischief 4 (DV).

May 20 at 4:32 p.m., AST responded to MVC involving a moose on Maud Road in the Butte. AST determined the moose was deceased and the involved vehicle had left the scene, and the meat was donated to a local charity.

May 21 at 12:48 a.m., AST arrested 42-year-old Julia Sunnyboy of Talkeetna on an outstanding arrest warrant. Sunnyboy was taken to MSPT on $2,500 cash appearance bail.

May 21 at 2:30 a.m., AST arrested 34-year-old Rodolfo Topete of Wasilla for DUI after he was pulled over for speeding at the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and North 49th State Street in Palmer. Topete was taken to MSPT, released O/R, and cited for speeding.

May 21 at 4:23 p.m., AST received a report that a 1994 Chevy Camaro was towed from a yard on Stinson Road in Willow between 10:00 p.m. on May 20 and 1:00 p.m. on May 21.

May 21 at 11:26 p.m., AST arrested 38-year-old Brian Corey on an outstanding warrant. Corey was taken to MSPT.

May 22 at 8:13 p.m., AST arrested 59-year-old Donalene Harris-Fleagle of Wasilla on an outstanding arrest warrant. Harris-Fleagle was taken to MSPT without bail.

ALASKA WILDLIFE TROOPERS

May 20 at 1:03 a.m., AST received a report from Lawrence Shepard who was stranded on the Susitna River. At 9:45 a.m., AWT responded and rescued Shepard who was cold, but uninjured.

BUREAU OF HIGHWAY PATROL

May 17 at 9:25 p.m., AST with the BHP arrested 32-year-old Max Foltz of Eagle River who had thrown a cigarette butte from the window of his Chevy pickup near Mile 47 of the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Foltz had an existing no bail arrest warrant for Promoting Contraband 1 and was taken to MSPT.

February 23 at 9:05 p.m., AST with the BHP arrested 40-year-old Nikit Reutov of Wasilla on a misdemeanor arrest warrant. Reutov was taken to MSPT with 30 days to serve on $500 bail.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

May 15, PPD arrested 39-year-old Nicholas Nevills of Palmer for violating a protective order. Nevills was taken to MSPt on $250 bail.

May 16, PPD forwarded charges of Theft 2 to the DAO for 40-year-old Brett Michels of Palmer.

May 16, PPD arrested 37-year-old Scot Shuford of Chickaloon for DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, and MIWS 4. Shuford was taken to MSPT on $1,000 bail.

May 17, PPD arrested 29-year-old Daniel Shier of Palmer for Felony DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer 2, Attempted Escape 4, and DWLR. Shier was taken to MSPT without bail.

May 17, PPD arrested 43-year-old Damon Evans of Palmer on a $100 warrant for FTA on the O/C of Violating a DVPO. Evans was taken to MSPT.

May 17, PPD arrested 48-year-old Duane Anderson of Palmer on three separate warrants for FTA on the O/C of Criminal Trespass 2. Anderson was taken to MSPT on $300 bail.

May 18, PPD issued a summons to 24-year-old Melissa Kapelari of Anchorage for Theft 4.
