Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police department press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

February 20 at 2:25 p.m., AST arrested 29-year-old Amber Briggs of Wasilla for Felony DUI after she was reported passed out behind the wheel at the 3 Bears gas station in Houston. Briggs was taken to MSPT without bail for Felony DUI because of 2 prior DUI convictions in the last 10 years.

February 21 at 6:27 p.m., AST arrested 37-year-old Shawn Mills of Wasilla for Assault 4 (DV) after Mills was reported assaulting a family member on Sunset Avenue in Wasilla. MIlls was taken to MSPT without bail.

February 21 at 8:51 p.m., AST arrested 31-year-old James Carr of Wasilla for Criminal Mischief 5 (DV) after responding to a disturbance on Maradee Circle in Wasilla. Carr was taken to MSPT.

February 21 at 9:52 p.m., AST arrested 44-year-old Christine Kuperman of Eagle River for DUI near the Parks Highway and Lucille street in Wasilla. Kuperman was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

February 21 at 11:40 p.m., AST arrested 49-year-old Jeffory Lee of Wasilla for FTA on the O/C of DUI. Lee was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

February 23 at 7:05 p.m., AST responded to a report of stabbing and gunfire and arrested 25-year-old Brandon Toves of Wasilla for Robbery 1 and Assault 2. Toves had assaulted someone with a knife and then brandished a gun to demand money. The victim escaped and was taken to MSRMC with non-life threatening injuries. Toves was taken to MSPT.

February 23 at 7:40 p.m., AST arrested 33-year-old Vincent Delia of Wasilla for Assault 4 following a disturbance in Meadow Lakes. Delia had three additional warrants and was taken to MSPT with 65 days to serve.

February 25 at 9:10 p.m., AST responded to a reported assault near Mile 38 on Willow Fishhook road. AST arrested 53-year-old Darlene Otten-Carl for Assault 4 (DV) and took her to MSPT without bail.

February 26 at 2:20 a.m., AST arrested 35-year-old Sydney sweet of Anchorage for Assault 4 (DV) following a disturbance near Mile 46 of Willow Fishhook Road. Sweet was taken to MSPT without bail.

February 26 at 11:57 a.m., AST received a report of a head-on collision near mile 63 of the Parks Highway. An ambulance responded to the wreck and closed the roadway to tend to the passengers in each vehicle. The adult male and two children in the pickup that was traveling northbound were taken to a local hospital. The two occupants of the small sedan were both entrapped and the male succumbed to injuries while still trapped. The passenger was taken by helicopter to a hospital.

BUREAU OF HIGHWAY PATROL

February 21 at 9:05 p.m., AST with the BHP arrested 27-year-old Michael Flores of Wasilla for a misdemeanor arrest warrant. Flores’ warrant was for FTA and was contacted Flores during a traffic stop in Meadow Lakes near Mile 49 of the Parks Highway. Flores was arrested and taken to MSPT.

February 23 at 9:05 p.m., AST with the BHP arrested 21-year-old Glenn Runnalls of Wasilla for Eluding. Runnalls drove a late 90’s sedan near mile 47 of the Parks Highway and failed to stop as he turned onto North Meadow Lakes Loop. Runnalls drove into the ditch and was taken to MSPT. Runnalls’ vehicle was impounded.

February 26 at 9:26 p.m., AST arrested 39-year-old William Murray of Big Lake on two active arrest warrants after he was stopped on South Horseshoe Lake road and West Lakes Boulevard in Big Lake. Murray had two warrants for probation violation, one for $20,000 and one for $1,000. Murray was taken to MSPT.

February 26 at 11:20 p.m., AST arrested 21-year-old Ashton Engebretsen of Wasilla for DUI. Engebretsen was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

February 27 at 2:45 a.m., AST arrested 56-year-old Aron Jonz of Wasilla on six outstanding arrest warrants following a traffic stop on a vehicle near Vine Road and Shady Grove Lane in Wasilla. Jonz was taken to MSPT on $800 bail.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

February 18, PPD received a report of a counterfeit bill passed at a local business.

February 18, PPD forwarded charges to the DAO on 48-year-old Duane Anderson of Palmer. February 18, PPD arrested 29-year-old Miranda Craig of Palmer for Concealment of Merchandise, Theft 4, and Criminal Trespass 1. Craig was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

February 18, PPD received a report of ‘prop’ money being used at a local business.

February 19, PPD arrested 61-year-old Linus Depriest of Palmer for Assault 4, Criminal Trespass 2, and Disorderly Conduct. Depriest was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

February 19, PPD arrested 18-year-old Brandon Drew of Palmer on a no bail warrant for FTR on the O/C of DUI. Drew was taken to MSPT.

February 20, 48-year-old Duane Anderson of Palmer wasa issued a summons for Criminal Trespass 2.

February 20, 52-year-old Kenneth Christiansen reported theft by deception after he was given prop money to purchase goods from his business.

February 21, PPD arrested 20-year-old Mosiah Renk of Wasilla on a $100 warrant for FTA on the O/C of Assault 4. Renk was taken to MSPT.

February 22, PPD arrested 20-year-old Dustin Hardwick Jr., of Palmer for Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5. Hardwick Jr., was taken to MSPT without bail.

FEbruary 24, PPD arrested 33-year-old David Sandvik of Palmer on three arrest warrants totaling $2,750 with additional time to serve. Sandvik’s warrants were for FTC on the O/C of Theft 2, FTR on the O/C of Theft 2, and Making a False Report/False Info. Sandvik was taken to MSPT.

February 24, PPD arrested 36-year-old Eric Crader of Palmer for Burglary 2 and Theft 2. Crader was taken to MSPT without bail.
