Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police department press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

March 5 at 3:25 p.m., AST with the Child Abuse Investigation Unit responded to a report that 52-year-old Sam Hatfield had abused a minor. Hatfield was taken to MSPT on charges of Assault 2,3, and 4 without bail.

March 6 at 8:52 p.m., AST received a report of a stolen Dodge van off of Elsinore AVenue in Wasilla. The complainant reported that 30-year-old Donald Caulkins of Wasilla met them to purchase the vehicle and instead stole the vehicle. Caulkins and the stolen van were located on Mystery Avenue at 10:30 p.m. and Caulkins fled on foot when AST located him. WPD K9 Echo assisted in locating Caulkins, who was on probation for three counts of Burglary 1, two counts of Theft 2, Vehicle Theft 1 and Assault 4. Caulkins was not complying with probation and had a no bail arrest warrant and was additionally found in possession of methamphetamine. Caulkins was arrested for Vehicle Theft 1, Theft 3, Fail to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer 1, MICS 4, and Probation Violation and taken to MSPT.

March 7 at 10:16 p.m., AST arrested David Filoialii for DUI. Filoiallii was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

March 8 at 2:09 a.m., AST arrested Karisa Widmer for DUI. Widmer was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

March 7 at 1:35 p.m., AST with the Child Abuse Investigation Unit received a report of a sexually abused minor. On March 8, investigation revealed that 20-year-old Dominick Agoney had sexually abused a minor and was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Agoney was taken to MSPT on charges of SAM 3 without bail.

March 7 at 2:57 a.m., AST responded to a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Ridgecrest Road. AST found 34-year-old Forrest Lemay of Wasilla had been operating his Pontiac Sedan under the influence of alcohol and drugs and was arrested for DUI as well as a schedule four controlled substance discovered on his person. Lemay was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

March 9 at 7:22 p.m., AST responded to a report of a dangerous driver stopped at mile 94 of the Glenn Highway. AST discovered 52-year-old Bernice Gray of Anchorage had been driving her 2018 Kia sedan under the influence and a family member had been in the vehicle with her but fled after being assaulted. Gray was charged with DUI, Assault 4 (DV) and Reckless Endangerment and taken to MSPT.

March 8 at 8:46 p.m., AST arrested 31-year-old Ian Wisecarver of Wasilla for Assault 4 (DV) and Criminal Mischief 5 (DV) near West Lucy Lake Drive in Wasilla. Wisecarver was taken to MSPT with bail to be set at arraignment.

March 10 at 5:01 a.m., AST received a report of property damage and theft from the Willow DOT yard near Mile 71 of the Parks Highway of a ‘Jumping Jack’ compactor worth over $1,000.

March 9 at 4:30 a.m., AST contacted 61-year-old Michael Rivers of California at the North Shore Campground in Big Lake. Rivers failed to provide a breath sample and was arrested on charges of DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Rivers was taken to MSPT.

March 8 at 6:00 p.m., AST responded to an address on Long Lake Road in Willow for a report of theft of household electronics valued over $1,000 and Criminal Mischief. The suspect vehicle is similar to an early 2000’s model silver Chevy trailblazer.

March 10 at 4:26 a.m., AST responded to a 2007 Chevy Silverado in the ditch near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Equestrian Place. AST contacted Matthew Bartell who had walked home after colliding with a light pole. Bartell was charged with DUI and taken to MSPT where he was released O/R.

March 9, AST received a report that 47-year-old Jimmy Lampley of Big Lake had committed an assault on a female at her residence. Lampley remained in the residence after the victim fled but was gone upon AST arrival. Lampley is charged with ASsault and Criminal Trespass 1 through the Palmer DAO and a warrant for his arrest will be requested.

March 12 at 1:52 a.m., AST arrested 41-year-old Brian Bates of Willow for DLWR. Bates was issued a misdemeanor summons along with several other citations.

March 12 at 2:24 p.m., AST arrested 49-year-old Stefan Gudmundson of Trapper Creek for Criminal Mischief 5 (DV). Gudmundson was taken to MSPT without bail.

March 12 at 8:16 a.m., AST arrested 48-year-old Tanja Peterson of Talkeetna for Criminal Trespass 2 (DV). Peterson was arrested for the incident that occurred on Long Branch Street in Talkeetna on March 11 and was taken to MSPT without bail.

March 12 at 5:30 p.m., AST, MATSAR, and AWT responded to search for 74-year-old Donald Brainard who had gotten lost while biking along the Susitna River. At 10:50 p.m., Brainard was returned home safely by a local resident and no medical treatment was required.

March 12 at 3:09 p.m., AST responded to a report of a disturbance on South Settlers Bay Road in Wasilla and arrested 57-year-old Vernita Polk for Assault 4 (DV). Polk was taken to MSPT without bail.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

March 4, PPD arrested 47-year-old Robert Malone of Palmer for Assault 4. Malone was taken to MSPT without bail.

March 5, PPD arrested 71-year-old Dennis Lee of Wasilla for DUI. Lee was taken to MSPT on $1,000 bail.

March 6, PPD arrested 32-year-old Xavier Mckinney of Wasilla for Burglary 2 and Criminal Mischief 4. Mckinney was taken to MSPT without bail.

March 7, PPD arrested 33-year-old Michael Whitman of Bethel on a $1,000 assault warrant. Whitman was taken to MSPT.

March 8, PPD arrested 21-year-old Dylan Pollard on a no bail warrant on the O/C of Theft 3. March 9, PPD forwarded charges of Assault to the DAO for 43-year-old January Strawser.

March 9, PPD arrested 31-year-old Raymond Burns of Palmer for DUI. Burns was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

March 10, PPD arrested 28-year-old Rosebud Sweeney of Palmer for Criminal Trespass 2. Sweeney was taken to MSPT and released O/R.

March 10, PPD arrested 28-year-old Jeffery Gish of Palmer for Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5. Gish was taken to MSPT without bail.

March 10, PPD arrested 50-year-old Tuesday Twohy of Palmer for DUI. Twohy was released O/R.
