Alaska State Troopers

As of now, the Valley has 36 Alaska State Troopers, 14 less than it had in 2005, according to Mayor Vern Halter, who also added that he had been informed that an adequate trooper number to police the borough was 85.

All information reported in the Police Beat is obtained from police department press releases. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

January 2 at 9:45 p.m., AST arrested 52-year-old Donald Crair Jr., of Wasilla for two outstanding FTA warrants on the O/C of Felony DUI and VCOR. Craig was taken to MSPT without bail.

January 1 at 4:31 p.m., AST responded to Sitze Road in Wasilla for a disturbance and arrested 48-year-old Jason Serrano of Wasilla for physically assaulting family members and making threats with a .22 caliber pistol pointed at a family member’s head. Serrano was arrested for Assault 2 and 4 (DV) and taken to MSPT without bail.

December 31 at 10:33 p.m., AST responded to a burglary in process near Birdsell Drive in Wasilla and found that the victims confronted the suspect while he was burgling the home which led to a physical altercation. Both of the residents inside the home were assaulted by the suspect who fled from a second floor window. Items were missing and damage was caused to the residence and Troopers are still investigating.

January 3 at 9:00 p.m., AST arrested 28-year-old Gordon Kamholz of Wasilla for an outstanding arrest warrant on the O/C of DUI following a traffic stop on Hawk Lane in Houston.

January 4 at 6:47 a.m., AST received a report that $50 of property was stolen and $100 in damage was done to a residence on North Monte Vista Drive in Palmer.

January 4 at 6:06 p.m., AST assisted by the CSU responded to a report of shots fired on Williwaw Way in Wasilla. AST arrested 59-year-old Daralene Harris-Fleagle of Wasilla after drunkenly firing a gun inside a residence. Harris-Fleagle was arrested and taken to MSPT where she was released O/R.

January 4, AST with the CSU arrested 24-year-old Adam Drew of Willow for violation of parole on January 3. Drew was charged with Robbery 1, Assault 1, Burglary 1 and Assault 4 and was previously on probation on charges of Burglary 1 and a previous Robbery 1 charge in 2015. Drew was taken to MSPT pending arraignment. These charges stem from a theft on Birdsell Drive in Wasilla on December 31 at 10:33 p.m.

January 3 at 1:59 a.m., AST issued criminal citations to 38-year-old Jeremy Schulz of Wasilla following a high-speed chase with a 4-wheeler on South Elizabeth Street in Wasilla. The driver of the 4-wheeler ignored Trooper’s lights and sirens and the attempted traffic stop was terminated but Troopers were able to follow the tracks and locate the 4-wheeler at a residence off Mission Hills Drive in Wasilla. Schulz was issued a mandatory court date for Failure to Stop at the Direction of Peace Officer 2. The red 2016 Arctic Cat 500 was not determined to have proof of ownership so it was impounded.

January 6 at 12:13 a.m., AST arrested 28-year-old Jonathon Zacharyasz of Big Lake for Assault 4 following a physical altercation on South A Court in Big Lake. Zacharyasz was taken to MSPT.

January 5 at 9:14 p.m., AST arrested 56-year-old Mitchell Brummer of Houston after an open line 911 call revealed a disturbance in the background at a residence off King Arthur Drive in Houston. Brummer was arrested for Assault 4 and taken to MSPT.

January 6 at 12:35 a.m., AST responded to a disturbance on South Cardiff Lane in Wasilla and arrested 53-year-old Anna Ivanoff. Ivanoff was intoxicated and thus VCOR on the O/C of Disorderly Conduct. Ivanoff was taken to MSPT where she was released O/R.

January 6 at 1:25 a.m., AST arrested 51-year-old Robert Sutton of Wasilla for Assault 4 on Wasilla Fishhook Road in Wasilla. Sutton was taken to MSPT until sober. A charge of Assault is also being forwarded to the DAO against the family due to their actions after the initial incident.

ALASKA WILDLIFE TROOPERS

December 14, 58-year-old David Moore of Wasilla self reported finding a calf moose near a moose he had legally harvested. Moore had inadvertently killed two moose and was issued a summons to Palmer court. The calf was seized and donated to charity. On January 2, Moore was fined $520 in Palmer District Court for taking a calf moose during closed season.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

January 1, PPD arrested 25-year-old Joan Pedersen of Palmer on a warrant for FTA on the O/C of MICS 4. Pedersen was taken to MSPT.

January 2, PPD arrested 47-year-old James Cohven of Palmer for Assault 4 and Interfering with a Report of DV. Cohven was taken to MPST without bail.

January 2, PPD forwarded charges of Theft 2 to the DAO for 31-year-old Blake Snyder of Chugiak.

January 4, PPD arrested 28-year-old Rosebud Sweeney of Palmer for VCOR and Criminal Trespass 2. Sweeney was taken to MSPT on $500 bail.

January 5, PPD arrested 30-year-old Ryan Boss of Wasilla for DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. Boss was taken to MSPT on $1,000 bail.

January 6, PPD arrested 26-year-old Kimberly Jessup of Wasilla on a $20,000 warrant for FTC with conditions of probation on the O/C of Theft 2. Jessup was taken to MPST.

January 3 at 2:31 p.m., AST responded to a disturbance near Binnacle Drive in Wasilla and arrested 48-year-old Ronald Griffith of Wasilla for Assault 2 (DV), three counts of Assault 3 (DV), Criminal Mischief 4 and Interfering with a Report of DV. Griffith was taken to MSPT without bail.

January 3 at 10:27 a.m., AST received a report of a burglary near Pittman Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed an older model Chevy pickup and several tools were stolen from the property.
