BAD DRIVERS

June 12 at 9:58 p.m., AST stopped a 2010 Nissan Maxima near mile 115 of the Parks Hwy in Trapper Creek. 23 year old James Compton of Palmer had an active warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of MIW 4 and MIW 5. Compton was VCOR and driving under the influence. He was arrested and taken to MSPT on $750 bail.

June 12 at 5:18 a.m., AST stopped a 2017 Kia Soul on Cottrell Campus Dr and Duchess Dr for multiple moving violations. After the Trooper got out of his car, the driver of the Soul took off. The driver of the Soul evaded troopers around the loop but crashed into the tree line. 30 year old Bethel resident Nancy King then left her car and started running into the woods. Once King came out of the woods and surrendered, she was arrested for Failure to Stop at the Directions of a Peace Officer 1, Reckless Driving and DUI. She was taken to MSPT.

June 9 at 1:13 a.m., AST stopped a 1997 Toyota sedan at the intersection of N Elsinore Ave and Garner Way in Wasilla and arrested 26 year old Joseph Gave of Wasilla for DUI. Gave was taken to MSPT and released on his own recognizance.

THEFT

June 12 at 12:11 p.m., AST received a report of someone who had broken into a residence in the Skwetna area and stolen several items.

June 13 at 8:10 a.m., AST received a report of a burglary in progress and responded to find the suspect carrying an item from the home he had stolen it from. 27 year old Christian Harris of Kotzebue was confronted by the homeowner and arrested for Burglary 1, 2, Theft 4, Criminal Trespass 1 and VCOR. Harris was taken to MSPT without bail.

June 12 at 1:40 p.m., Troopers with the Palmer Criminal Suppression Unit arrested 40 year old Otis Mielke of Wasilla. In early March 2018, Troopers received numerous reported burglaries and thefts in the Yetna River area. Two arrest warrants were issued for Mielke on Burglary 1, Criminal Mischief 2, Theft 2, Vehicle Theft 1, and Criminal Trespass 1 charges. Other charges forwarded to the Palmer DA’s office were Arson 2, Burglary 1, Theft 2 and Criminal Trespass 1. Other incidents are still under investigation. Troopers would like to thank the citizens of the Yetna River Area for providing Troopers with information. Mielke was taken to MSPT and held on $10,000 bail.

June 12 at 9:28 a.m., AST received a reported burglary near Lollybrook Dr in Wasilla and found that some time between June 10 and June 12 someone caused $1,200 in damage and stole a diesel heater, 2 compressors, 2 drills, 2 disc sanders, 100 CD’s and a roll of carpet. Estimated value of the items is $1,349. Investigation is ongoing.

ASSAULT

June 10 at 1:05 a.m., AST responded to 4414 Harbor Rd in Big Lake for a reported disturbance and found 27 year old Maximino Gonzales of Anchorage had assaulted someone and 26 year old Mardi Gonzales had caused property damage. Both were arrested and taken to MSPT without bail.

June 11 at 9:55 p.m., AST responded to a disturbance and found 31 year old Scott Crouse of Houston had assaulted a family member and damaged property. Crouse was arrested for Assault 4 and Criminal Mischief 5 (DV). Crouse was taken to MSPT without bail.

June 12 at 8:08 a.m., AST received a reported disturbance and arrested 30 year old Jeremiah Proveauex of Big Lake for Assault 4 (DV),Criminal Mischief 5 (DV), and caused $250 of property damage. He was taken to MSPT without bail.

June 12 at 6:47 p.m., AST responded to the village of Gulkana for a reported assault and found 28 year old Steven Lane-Jefferson had recklessly caused injury to a family member and placed them in fear of imminent physical injury. Lane-Jefferson was arrested and is being held at the Glennallen Trooper post pending arraignment.

June 13 at 10:12 p.m., AST received a report of a disturbance and arrested 41 year old Dustin Moody of Wasilla. Moody was taken to MSPT without bail.

June 10 at 11:50 p.m., AST responded to a disturbance on N Williwaw Way in Wasilla and found 55 year old Nina Granger of Wasilla, who had a warrant for her arrest on Failure to Remand on the original charge of DUI. Granger was arrested and taken to MSPT with 3 days to serve.

June 8 at 1:16 p.m., AST received a report that 27 year old James Rider was violating a protective order. Troopers arrested Rider and took him to MSPT without bail.
