PALMER — Tier 1 Veterinary Medical Center recently announced the launch of Launches Alaska’s only full-time Ophthalmology service for pets, offering better access to eye care for locals and those across the state.
Like their human counterparts, Alaskan pets would often be required to travel to the Lower 48 to get their pet’s serious eye issues addressed. That is no longer the case thanks to the addition of a full-time Ophthalmology service center led by Dr. Kevin Snyder.
“That goes with having Tier 1 be the hub for ER and specialty services in general… The goal of the hospital is to make this the premier place for veterinary care and medicine in Alaska,” Snyder said.
Snyder now leads this specialty service at Tier 1 Vet’s state-of-the-art facility in Palmer. He said they see just about everything ranging from eye exams to the treatment of cataracts and cancerous tumors.
“Dogs and cats, dogs especially are everywhere you look out here,” Snyder said.
Snyder said that he’s proud to be part of a top-of-the-line and locally owned organization that offers so much to local pet owners.
“There’s everything under one roof… We all work hand in hand,” Snyder said.
