A Wasilla man accused of second-degree murder died four days after a suicide attempt, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
Edwin Clawson, 39, was declared dead on March 22. Troopers responded to Mat-Su Pretrial March 18 after AST said Clawson had attempted suicide. He was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
Clawson was arrested March 15 after AST received a request for a welfare check and responded to a residence in Wasilla just before 10 p.m. March 15. Upon arrival, troopers discovered Clawson in a driveway. Troopers also found a deceased female lying on the ground. Clawson was detained at the scene and arrested following an investigation of the scene. The victim was later identified as Susanna Clawson, 32, of Anchorage.
Clawson was arraigned on March 16 and was scheduled to return to court March 26.
