Donald Gene Dean of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, at the age of 73; surrounded by family. Don was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a Vietnam Veteran.

Don will always be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and newly great-grandfather. He was truly one of the most kind and selfless people you could ever meet and wanted nothing more than good health and happiness for his family and everyone around him.

Donald was born in Pittsburg, Oklahoma on August 28, 1948, to Albert and Nellie Dean.

In 1966 Donald enlisted and served in the US Army until being honorably discharged. Donald moved to Alaska in 1969, where he married the love of his life, Wanda and started a family.

Before retirement in 2010, Donald worked as an electrician for the City of Anchorage under the IBEW for over 30 years.

Donald enjoyed spending time working on projects with his grandkids, taking road trips in the motor home with his family, gold mining, coin collecting and snow-birding to Louisiana. He also had a fascination with Space X and space exploration.

Donald is survived by his wife, Wanda; his sister, Ruby and brother-in-law, Dennis Kennedy; children, Billy Dean, Andy & Sharon Dean, and Donny & Beth Dean; grandchildren, Jake & Jessica, Collin, Dylan and Jace; great-grandson Finn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 of his brothers and sisters.

The Dean family will be holding a memorial service for Donald on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. 3:00 — 4:00 pm. at the Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave. Wasilla, AK. A graveside service will be held in early December 2021 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
