James P. Hoylman
Longtime Palmer resident James “Bim” P. Hoylman, 70 passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Palmer, Alaska, June 28, 2020.
Services will be held July 11, at St. John Lutheran Church 440 E Elmwood Ave, Palmer, AK99645 at 1:00 pm.
Bim was born January 22, 1950 in Box Butte, Nebraska to James and Leora Hoylman.
Bim was a longtime Special Olympian where he competed in many sports from bowling, golf, to track and field. He won many medals of gold, silver and bronze and met many famous people. He competed until he was 68 years old and decided it was time to give the younger generation a chance.
He loved football and was a lifetime fan of the Denver Broncos.
He retired from Carr’s Safeway where he worked for 20+ years. He knew everyone by name, everyone was a friend and he never forgot a birthday or anniversary. He loved to get cards for people and from people. He would read every one. His birthday parties were infamous.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sisters Diane, Roberta and his brother John.
