Lois Arlene Munford 84, of Palmer, passed away peacefully, January 3rd, 2022.
Lois was born September 18, 1937 in Bonaparte, Iowa, to James and Faye Randolph. She graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1955 and was salutatorian of her class, and later attended lab technician school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Robert Munford on April 20th, 1959, and in 1962 the family moved from Iowa to Palmer. Lois went to work for the Mat Su School District in 1967 and retired after 32 years of service. Many of her co-workers became her lifelong friends during her time there. After her retirement she traveled throughout the U.S., Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, and spent time in Iowa with her family. Lois was also an avid quilter and was a member of the Valley Quilters Guild for many years.
Lois truly loved her home on Finger Lake where she lived for 55 years. Summer or Winter there was always a beautiful view, and an abundance of activity to watch on the lake. This especially brought her great enjoyment during the last few years of her life. She will be remembered by all for her kindness and unconditional love.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, James and Faye Randolph; her daughter, Susan Munford; brother-in-law, Duane Munford; brother-in-law, Tom Ridgeway; and niece, Kay Lynn Ridgeway.
She is survived by her close friend and former husband, Bob Munford; her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Stan George; Grandchildren, Chelsey Munford, Tyler George, Melissa George, Haley George (Nate Weishuhn), Lucas George (Reanna Stewart). She is also survived by great granddaughters, Kali Mueller, Lexius Stewart, Rylee and Lily Horton, and sisters, Shirley Ridgway, Connie (Donnie) Ward; sister-in-law, Barbara Munford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the United Protestant Presbyterian Church, 713 S. Denali St. on January 15th at 1:00 PM. Per church requirements masks are mandatory for all activities. Those who are unable to attend may send cards to 6330 E. Finger Lake View Dr. Wasilla, AK 99654. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mat Su Senior Services at MSSS, 1132 S. Chugach St., Palmer, AK 99645.
