Michael (Mike) Erps
Michael (Mike) Erps passed away December 25, 2021 at his home in Wilcox, AZ at the age of 74. Mike was born June 30, 1947 in Sidney, Montana to parents Rex H and Margie D Erps. In 1954 the family ventured north to the territory of Alaska to pursue the good life in the last frontier. Mike spent many happy years exploring the forests, hunting and fishing. After graduating from high school in 1965, Mike enlisted in the army. He took advantage of being stationed in Germany, bought a Volkswagen and toured all the neighboring countries. After being honorably discharged, Mike returned to Alaska. It was while working at AIH in Wasilla that he met the love of his life when Vicki Hoekzema came into the store. They were married in Willow July 4, 1998. Upon his retirement as the Solid Waste Manager from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, he and Vicki sold everything and bought a fifth wheel. They spent the next several years being campground hosts and living the gypsy life. They eventually settled in Wilcox, Arizona. Mike is survived by his wife Vicki, daughter Lisa Hoekzema, son Danny Hoekzema, granddaughter, Cherrel High, great grandson, Carson High, sister, Kaylea Sisson, and younger brother A. Gene Erps. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Margie Erps, and his older brother Charles R Erps.
