Willow resident Raylene Margaret Getts-Tanner, 69, passed away on December 14, 2019, of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Raylene was born in Ionia, Michigan to Elizabeth Georgetta Getts-McGriff and Kenneth Arlen Getts on August 18, 1950.
Memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Gazebo at Kendal Park 3160 E. Cottle Loop in Wasilla with Pastor Charles Worthy of Willow First Baptist, officiating.
Raylene is survived by her children Michelle ”Misty” Elizabeth Vanderweele of Palmer, Jeremy “Boone” Tanner of Wasilla, Julie “Autee” Tweedy of Grandville, Michigan and son-in-law Glen Vanderweele of Palmer. She is survived by sisters Julie Getts-Fulton of Wasilla and Robin Getts-Tresham of Wasilla; brother-in-laws Mike Fulton of Wasilla and Roland Tresham of Wasilla. Raylene is also survived by grandchildren Douglas Tanner of Wasilla and Jenna Vanderweele of Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth Georgetta Getts-McGriff and Kenneth Arlen Getts, sisters Teresa Getts-Volk, Kendra Sue Getts-Beach, and grandson Luke Delia.
Raylene moved to Willow, Alaska from Ionia, Michigan in 1962 with her parents and siblings where they built their family homestead. She was crowned Miss Willow Winter Carnival in 1965, graduated from Wasilla High School in 1968 and shortly after got married and started a family. Raylene loved to quilt, paint, and crochet in her spare time. She will be remembered as a talented, hard-working and loving mother, sister, and grandmother.
