Russell James Jurgen Kelsey
Was born in Anchorage Alaska at Providence Hospital on March 23rd, 1974. He departed this world on September 26, 2019.
Russell attended Palmer High School until his senior year where he transferred to Virginia to be with his Father and Step Mother graduating from Nelson County High School. After graduation, he went to work with his Father at a local sawmill. Our beloved son enjoyed cooking and up until his death worked at several locations around the Valley in different cooking positions. His last job being at the Wasilla Burger King where he had nearly six years of steady employment. Russell was a big man with a big heart who enjoyed caring for his family and fellow man/woman. Russell was an organ donor. He stated that when that time came that any part of his remains should be donated so that someone else would benefit. His family knows that this would make him happy and speak of his personality. We believe that Russell was touched by the Holy Spirit and that he will spend eternity with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior and other family members in heaven. We very much want to thank the emergency personal that responded and tried very hard to restart our son’s heart. We also thank the Alaska State Troopers that spent part of the day with us. A special thank you to our Pastor Paul Folk of Big Lake Baptist Church who spent the better part of the day with us. His presence was a great comfort to us along with the prayers.
He is preceded in death by his mother Geneva Faye Schendel Kelsey Baker and his nephew Joshua Robert Kelsey.
He is survived by his father Robert “Bear” Kelsey; his step mother Beatrice “Bootsie” Kelsey; his two sisters Melanie E. Kelsey of Elon North Carolina and Roberta Ann Adams of Twin Falls Idaho; two nephews Andrew Adams and Johnathon Kelsey of Spokane Washington; Russell has a daughter, Shyanne Kelsey in Northern California. Russell was faithful in remembering birthdays and holidays for his daughter.
A celebration of life will be held at Big Lake Baptist Church at 11:00am on October 12, 2019.
Instead of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in Russell’s name to Big Lake Baptist Church; this is to help a little in his final expenses.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
His remains will be laid to rest with his mother in Twin Falls Idaho.
