Wasilla resident Ruth Meyer, 87, passed away on August 20, 2018 at Providence Hospital.
A service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla, AK on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2:00pm, with burial arrangements to be made later.
Ruth was born on October 2, 1930 in South Dakota. Ruth married Tom Meyer on August 8, 1948 in Gayville, SD. Ruth and Tom loved each other dearly, enjoying 49 years of marriage together while creating a loving family for themselves. They came to Anchorage in 1976 before settling in Wasilla in 1978. Both truly loved being a part of their community.
Strong in her faith through God's freely given Grace, Ruth was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla and was joyful in watching the church grow.
Ruth was skilled in business, working as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Kansas City and Anchorage before becoming a franchise owner in 1978 in Palmer and Wasilla, retiring in 2013.
Ruth's family was the most important thing to her, and she cherished time with her six daughters and their families.
Ruth is survived by Nanette (Ron) Rucker, Peggy (Boyd) Berg, Lynn (Kevin) Baker, all of Wasilla, AK, Julie (Will) Patterson of Meridian, ID, Chris Meyer of Winters, CA, and Patty (Todd) Bryant of Anchorage, AK. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents and four siblings, and her son-in-law Daveed Schwartz.
