PALMER — The Colony Knights enjoyed a big day in the pool Saturday.

Colony scored the girls title and finished second in the boys standings during the Northern Lights Conference Championships at Kenai Central High School. The girls and boys teams won a total of five individual events and two relays, and combined to score a meet-best 145 total points.

Colony earned the girls team title with 80 total points, 16 better than runner-up Kodiak. Joscelyn Barrette and Josephine Rogness finished first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, respectively. The Knights also won the 200 medley relay. Taylor Nelson added a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle and a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly. Jasmine Biedermann was third in both the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

Konnor Kolberg won the 100 freestyle and Jonathan Cowin finished first in the 100 breaststroke to lead the Colony boys. Kolberg was also second in the 200 IM and Cowin was third in the 200 freestyle. Karson Kolberg finished third in the 200 IM. The Colony boys also won the 400 freestyle relay.

Colony’s Eli Krozel was at the lead in a big weekend for Valley divers. Krozel was first in the boys’ diving event. The Valley swept the top 5 spots in boys diving event. Runner-up Andrew Layman led three Wasilla divers in the top four. Kade Reynolds was third and Deshawn Campbell finished fourth. Colony’s Zander Backus was fifth.

The Valley swept the top 6 spots in the girls’ diving event. Wasilla’s Carrie Meyer was crowned the region champ. Palmer’s Tyler Coffman and Taylor Miller placed second and third. Wasilla’s Lily Collins was fourth, Colony’s Lily Engebretsen placed fifth and Palemr’s Ally Hrncir was sixth.

Palmer finished fifth in the girls standings. Ally Ferguson led the Moose with a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle. The Palmer boys also placed fifth. Jaxson Lee led the Moose with a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle.

The ASAA state championships start Friday at Bartlett High School in Anchorage.
