An early lead helped the Colony Knights score a win in a game that featured two of the top 4A girls basketball teams in the state.
Colony used a 15-6 first-quarter run to grab a 54-46 victory over the Wasilla Warriors Tuesday at Wasilla High School.
Colony’s Indiya Clarke scored six of her game-high 22 points in the first. Tori Schwantes added seven of her nine points during the first eight minutes. Maggie Spencer finished with 11 in the win. Emma Hopkins chipped in seven.
Alex Randall hit four three-pointers and led Wasilla with 15. Bella Hays scored 13 and Sierra Baird added 11.
In boys basketball action. Wasilla scored a 49-39 win over Houston Tuesday at WHS.
The Warriors opened the game on a 10-0 run, and that proved to be the difference in the game. Parker Kroon hit a pair of field goals during the first-quarter run and scored 10 points. Andrew Devine led Wasilla with a dozen. Dylan Jeffers added 10 and Payson White scored nine.
Hayden Howard led Houston with a game-high 13. Cody Wyrick added nine.
