East Anchorage used a big fourth quarter to turn a close game into a double-digit victory.

East scored 20 unanswered points to post a 35-12 Cook Inlet Conference win over Colony Sept. 10 at Colony High School.

Colony kicker Demetrios Catlett booted a 25-yard field goal midway through the third to cut East’s lead to 15-12. But the Thunderbirds erupted for three touchdowns during a five-minute stretch in the fourth.

Puni Pa’u rushed for two of his four scores in the fourth. Pa’u rumbled for a 12-yard touchdown with 8:24 left in the game, and added a 3-yard score about four minutes later. Pa’u also had a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs in the first half.

Deuce Zimmerman capped the East win with a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the game.

East improved to 4-1 with the win, and Colony dropped to 3-2.

Harvey Pullen connected with Jayce Underwood on a 33-yard strike late in the first half to represent Colony’s lone touchdown.

Pullen finished with 130 yards passing. Underwood, Jack Nash and Xander Freeeman had four catches each. Tanner Thornhill led Colony with 96 yards rushing.
