Colony and Palmer have moved into the semifinals after a day full of sweeps during the first day of the Northern Lights Conference Championships Thursday at Palmer High School.

Top-seeded Colony capped the night beating Soldotna 3-0. The Stars, winless in NLC play during the regular season, opened the tournament by upsetting fourth-seeded Wasilla 3-0. Third-seeded Palmer also beat second-seeded Kodiak 3-0.

The Knights and Moose will play in the first semifinal of the double-elimination tournament Friday at 7 p.m. at PHS. The winner of that match advances to the region title match Saturday at 1 p.m.

Wasilla and Kodiak open the second day of the tournament with an elimination match Friday at 3 p.m. The winner moves on to play Soldotna in another elimination match Friday at 5 p.m.

Colony finished the regular season 8-0 in the NLC. Soldotna was 0-8. Kodiak, Palmer and Wasilla all finished in a three-way tie at 4-4.
