Austin Robertson fires a pitch for the Wasilla Road Warriors against Chugiak.

WASILLA — The Wasilla Road Warriors suffered through their roughest night of the 2019 summer season to date during the 13-1 loss to Chugiak Thursday. But the following day, Wasilla bounced back in a big way.

The Road Warriors enjoyed a 13-2 win over Eagle River Friday night at Loretta French Field in Chugiak.

Kyle Graham led the Warriors at the plate, finishing 3 for 5. Graham collected a double, triple, two runs and a pair of RBI. Byson Malave also drove in two runs. Waylon Payne also scored two runs. The Road Warriors scored in six of the seven innings in the game. Eagle River spoiled the shutout bid with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Wasilla’s loss to Chugiak Thursday is just its fourth of the American Legion regular season. The Road Warriors own the best record in the state, 22-4 overall and 13-1 in league play.

Palmer scored a 7-4 win over Eagle River on Wednesday.

Anthony Jones sparked the Pioneers late. With the game tied at 4, Jones led off the fifth with a pinch-hit single and later scored the go-ahead goal, scoring when Keagan Norman reached on a fielder’s choice. Brady Shults followed with a two-run triple to push Palmer’s lead to 7-4. Norman and Zach Satterly both scored on the play.

The Pioneers improved to 13-8 overall with the victory over the Wolves.
