Nolan Murphy and Clayton Boyett used their work on the mound and at the plate to lead the Wasilla Road Warriors to another lopsided Alliance Baseball League victory.
Murphy and Boyett combined for a five-inning no-hitter as the Warriors pounded Fairbanks 15-0 Friday night at McManus Field in Wasilla. Murphy fanned eight and walked only one over four innings of work. Boyett struck out the side in the fifth. Murphy and Boyett also combined for five RBI in the win. Murphy drove in three and scored a run. Boyett added a run and two RBI.
Waylon Payne also finished with a team-best three RBI. Jacob Gilbert and Andre Brown drove in two runs each. A dozen of Wasilla’s 15 runs came in the fourth inning. The Warriors drew nine walks in the inning. Wasilla had a stretch of 12 straight hitters reach. Boyett, Payne, Murphy and Byson Malave also singled in the inning.
Wasilla improved to 11-0 with the win.
Pioneers score walk-off win Landon Guggenmos singled in the bottom of the eighth to drive in Brayden Methven and lead the Palmer Pioneers to a 6-5 win over North Pole Friday night at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
The Guggenmos single came after an Alex Manning sacrifice bunt that pushed Methven to third.
Leadoff hitter Ben Alley finished 3 for 3, drove in a run and scored another. Methven and Carson McLaughlin had two hits each. Six different Pioneers scored a run.
North Pole grabbed an early 3-0 advantage. Palmer jumped to a 4-3 lead with three in the third. North Pole tied the game at 5 in the sixth.
