Dylan Abbott

Dylan Abbott, a former Wasilla High School player, has been recognized by NHL Central Scouting.

A Wasilla product remains on the radar of NHL scouts.

Dylan Abbott, skating in his second season with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League, is included on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. The 6-foot defenseman and Minnesota State commit was initially recognized by Central Scouting as a prospect to watch in anticipation of the 2020 NHL Draft in October. Abbott was given a ‘C’ ranking, which means he has the potential of being drafted anywhere from the fourth to sixth round. On the latest list, Abbott is ranked as a potential fifth-round pick. He is one of six current NAHL players on the list.

Through Wednesday night, Abbott has a goal and 19 assists in 36 games with the Ice Dogs. Abbott’s scoring pace is well ahead of his rookie season. Last year, Abbott bagged a goal and 20 assists in 53 games. He has also improved his plus-minus rating from -1 one last season to +16 this year.

Abbott skated for Wasilla High School as a freshman before making the leap to higher levels of hockey.
