2015 ‘Highway Neighbors’ conference is May 13

MAT-SU — The Mat-Su Convention & Visitors Bureau will host a two-part 2015 Highway Neighbors conference May 13.

Join businesses and organizations along the road system for a day of sharing information and preparing for the upcoming summer season. This informal conference has traditionally included updates on statewide issues affecting tourism, such as sportfishing, road closures and community updates.

The event is geared toward communities on the Alaska highway system and focuses on tourism issues, forecasts, marketing tips and more. Typically, representatives from Fairbanks, Valdez, Mat-Su and Anchorage convention and visitors bureaus, as well as business owners from those communities, attend the event.

The first part of the meeting is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Government Peak Chalet in Hatcher Pass. The conference includes presentations from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Alaska State Parks, Alaska Travel Industry Association and more organizations that influence our communities and visitors.

The event continues at 5 p.m. with an open house and barbecue at the Mat-Su Visitor Center at 7744 Visitors View Ct., Palmer (Mile 35.5 Parks Hwy.), where attendees can continue to network and spotlight their businesses to Mat-Su CVB members.

Cost is $50, including lunch, educational and interactive sessions and the barbecue.

Please return registration forms and payment to Casey Ressler, Mat-Su CVB, 7744 E. Visitors View Ct., Palmer, AK 99645. Or, email forms to casey@alaskavisit.com.
