PALMER — The fourth annual “CHAIR-ity Auction” is June 6 and 7 and will once again benefit MY House. The fundraiser auctions community members’ artistically designed chairs with proceeds supporting homeless youth in the Valley.
Last year the fundraiser brought in more than $1,000 from the sale of 24 chairs, and this year organizers say they hope to double the number of chairs.
Community members, families, and businesses are encouraged to decorate any kind of chair — new or old, a garden chair, or a thrift store special — and add it to the fundraiser.
Past artists have worked their magic with duct tape, paint, mosaic, papier-mache, or fabric. Photos from past years’ CHAIR-ity entries are posted on the MY House Facebook page.
Chairs will be displayed on June 6 at the Gathering Grounds Cafe’ in Wasilla and will be in the Colony Day Parade in Palmer on June 7 .
The chair auction is after the parade during St. John’s Lutheran Church community picnic at 1 p.m.
