Happy 4th of July!
We can rejoice at the two recent Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) decisions. One striking down the oppressive and ineffective Sullivan Law of New York and the other striking down Roe v. Wade in recognition that the Constitution does not contain imagined rights. In making its decision, the SCOTUS demonstrated that no longer will the SCOTUS make law, thereby usurping the Legislative Branch’s powers.
We can further rejoice at the manner in which the rights, real or imagined, were examined by the SCOTUS. Framers’ Intent in creating the Second Amendment was reviewed and applied to New York State Rifle and Pistol Club v. Bruen. Framers’ Intent was also applied to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
In Bruen, the court considered the text of the Second Amendment, what the Framers’ intended in their expression of that right, and the traditions surrounding the use of firearms in this country, finding that the Sullivan Law was overly restrictive and barred the citizen from exercising their Second Amendment rights to self-defense using a firearm outside of the home.
In Jackson, the SCOTUS found that there existed under the Constitution no such right to abortion. What is not enumerated in the Constitution is left to the states under the 10th Amendment.
It is estimated that since Roe, 60 million Americans died by abortion.
Under Roe v. Wade, abortion was imposed by unelected justices wrongly interpreting the Constitution who ignored the 10th Amendment for purely political objectives. Roe was simply bad law to begin with. Even Ruth Bader Ginsberg recognized that Roe would be revisited by the SCOTUS.
Those states where abortion is legal are not affected. Nothing changed. The matter is now open for challenge by the people of the individual states.
The New York State Rifle and Pistol Club v. Bruen decision striking down the Sullivan Law of New York restores to the citizens of New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, California and other blue jurisdictions their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for self-defense outside of the home.
As both the CDC and Dr. John Lott have observed, more guns owned and carried by the law abiding result in a reduction in crime. An estimated 6,400 crimes per day, or approximately 2.3 million crimes per year, are stopped by the law abiding using legally owned firearms. It is estimated that as many as 3 million law abiding Americans safely carry a lawfully owned firearm daily without incident.
It should be noted that gun free zones are where 98% of mass shootings happen.
The slaughter over drugs caused by gang warfare continue night after night in our major cities where gun laws for the law abiding are literally oppression, gun free zones are prolific, and criminals are exempt from the law?
We must also keep in mind that the Declaration of Independence was only possible through the sacrifice and courage of those who signed the document and those who stood the line against the King’s military in a hard-fought revolution against the King of England. It is their courage that we remember and honor on the 4th.
The Declaration of Independence was also made possible, because of the strong tradition and history of the armed yeomanry of England that extended to the colonies in the form of local militias that acted as the first line of defense against attacks by the French and by hostile Indian tribes. This tradition goes back to the 12th century in England when Henry II proclaimed the Azzize of Arms in 1181 requiring males aged 15 to 40 to purchase and to maintain arms for service to the King.
The tyranny that presses against our rights is real. Hundreds of Americans rot in jails awaiting trials without provision for bail for crimes that are no more than misdemeanors. Yet those who burned our cities walk free, with felony charges of violence and property destruction dismissed by Democrat judges and Soros’s prosecutors with open support by Democrat elected officials at every level of government. Worse are the open threats of violence and oppression against political opponents of the Biden regime. This is the United States, not Soviet Russia.
This 4th, we are closer to civil war than we have ever been since 1861.
We have become a nation that worships death and rejects God. As a nation, we are where the Israelites were under the Second Kingdom of Judah with the worship of Baal.
Remember why the Second was enumerated. Keep your powder dry, maintain your arms, be proficient in their use, and carry. An armed self-defense is your right and your duty to self and loved ones, and for national defense and in defense of the Constitution.
In honor of the sacrifice of our forebears, we need to get rid of “woke” and communism in our schools and government. The Great American Revolution was not fought for us to commit national suicide in the name of acceptance of those who hate God, this country, our Constitution and our values as Americans.
The tyranny of the minority through unelected jurists is coming to an end. And, that is worth celebrating this 4th of July.
