A rare find

If you haven’t heard of a the Leonberger breed of dogs, don’t be embarrassed because most people haven’t. If Wikipedia is any guide, they’re apparently native to Leonberg in southwest Germany and were bred to resemble a lion. Whatever the case, this particular Leonberger — shelter staff doesn’t know his name — is 9 years old and has been without a home since at least since Dec. 2 when he was brought in as a stray. His shelter identification number is A001761 and he would cost $99.50 to adopt. For more information, contact the Mat-Su Borough Animal Care and Regulation Shelter at 746-5500 or visit at 1200 N. 49th State Street near the Mat-Su Borough landfill or visit at 1200 N., 49th State St., near the Mat-Su Borough landfill.
