PALMER — The Matanuska Experiment Farm near Palmer is one of six sites where people can participate in a workshop led by Fairbanks CPA Paul Robinson about record keeping and taxes for agricultural businesses.
Sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and UAF Community and Technical College, the workshop is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jan. 14 in Fairbanks, but will be available by videoconference in Delta Junction, Palmer, Homer, Soldotna, Valdez and Kenny Lake.
Robinson, a certified public accountant with Robinson and Associates, will cover the record-keeping requirements of the Internal Revenue Service and tax planning and preparation. Topics will include depreciation rules, the domestic production activities deduction, soil and water conservation expenses, forestation and reforestation costs and the hobby loss rule.
