Congratulations to Senior Airman James Ward with the 673d Medical Support Squadron for being recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week.
Ward has been performing the role of NCOIC for the lab shipping department for over four weeks. He was instrumental in expediting critical care to one of the hospital’s beneficiaries, a patient needing a rare test with very sensitive shipment and processing requests that can only be performed at a specialized lab. Ward spent a substantial amount of time researching the unusual testing criteria requirements, engaging with the provider, the medical director, and two commercial labs. His diligent work was key to the safety and care for the patient.
Ward also recently assessed the shipping requirements and found an area of unnecessary waste, which now corrected will save $29,078 annually.
The AWOW is an award highlighting JBER’s top-performing Airmen.
