ANCHORAGE - Today, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the launch of a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Casey Steinau, Chair of the Alaska Democratic Party had this to say about the announcement.
“We are a country of laws, an no one – regardless of their station in life, their power and influence, or their elected office – is immune from those laws. We cannot stand by and allow this basic principle of our system to break down, or we have lost our country. I respect Speaker Pelosi’s measured approach, and her willingness to do the due diligence on a matter that is so important to the nation, and so sobering. We are about to enter the history books, and we must ensure our process is impeccable. This is not a reason to celebrate, but it is a time to be deeply grateful and proud that the Democratic Party is stepping up to do what is right for our country and the democratic principles on which it was founded.”
