Application period ends Feb. 28 for the Alaska Summer Research Academy at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The program operates a day camp for middle school students from June 3-14 and a residential program for high school students from July 15-26.
The middle school program is open to students in sixth through eighth grades, and the high school residential program is for students entering ninth grade or already in high school.
The two-week program will pair small groups of students with instructors to explore topics in science, engineering, math or technology. The program’s 17 modules cover topics such as archaeology, marine biology, veterinary medicine, food science and robotics. The College of Natural Science and Mathematics hosts the program through its outreach department. UAF faculty members, graduate students, K-12 teachers and industry professionals instruct the programs.
