Alaska State Fair tickets on sale today

Tickets for the first five concerts announced at the 2013 Alaska State Fair — Aug. 22 to Sept. 2 — go on sale today.

All shows in the 2013 AT&T Concert Series are at the Kendall Toyota of Anchorage Borealis Theatre on the fairgrounds and are presented by AT&T. Ticket prices for concerts are in addition to fair admission and convenience fees apply.

The concert series features:

• Aug. 22: Foreigner — With more than 70 million albums sold, nine Top-10 hits, and a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 All Time Top Artists Chart, Foreigner is arguably one of the world’s most popular rock acts. Show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $70 for reserved seating, and $35 for general admission.

• Aug. 25: Bill Cosby — Described as a “national treasure with the unique ability to touch people’s hearts,” Bill Cosby’s career has spanned five decades and virtually all media. Show begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $80 for reserved seating and $40 for general admission. Ticket holders may bring small foldable chairs to this show only.

• Aug. 26: Love and Theft — The duo delivers a mix of country melodies and sing-along choruses in their self-titled second studio album, featuring honest, soulful country music. Show begins at 7 p.m. All tickets are $30. Limited chair seating is available on first-come, first-served basis.

• Aug. 30: 3 Doors Down — These Mississippi-based rockers embarked on “The Better Life” in 2000, when their debut album sold 6 million copies, and the hit “Kryptonite” was named the No. 1 song of the year and secured a Grammy nomination. Show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65 for reserved area, and $35 for general admission. Please note there is no seating at this concert.

• Sept. 2: Phillip Phillips — Fresh off his season 11 American Idol victory, Phillip Phillips will showcase his rich, raspy vocals and masterful guitar skills at the fair. Show begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $55 for reserved seating, and $35 for general admission.

Details on the final seven concerts are being finalized.

Tickets are available at alaskastatefair.org or by using the free ETIX iPhone app, available at the app store or on iTunes (please note that only “best available” seats are available through the ETIX app and convenience fees apply).

Fairgoers also may get tickets at the Kendall Toyota of Anchorage Borealis Box Office on the fairgrounds during the fair; no convenience fees charged for tickets purchased at the box office.

Fairgoers can also save by purchasing season passes, which must be ordered by 4:30 p.m., July 31 for in-person purchases and 11:59 p.m. for online purchases. Passes will be mailed prior to the start of the fair.
