Anchorage woman arrested trying to sneak drugs into jail

PALMER — Krystal Leighton, 31, of Anchorage, was arrested March 14 after attempting to deliver a controlled substance and other contraband into the Palmer Correctional Center.

Alaska State Troopers say they received a tip around 2:19 p.m., Friday about the plan involving Leighton. She was contacted around 6 p.m. while she was processing through the visitor center at the jail.

Leighton was arrested for the crimes of promoting contraband first, promoting contraband second, MICS 5, MICS 6 and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor; she brought four children with her to the jail.

Leighton was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $1,000 c/c appearance bond and a $1,500 cash performance bond.
