Two new grants are available from the Cook Inlet Historical Society to encourage research and writing about the Cook Inlet area and Alaska. The grants were created to honor the memory of Brian Davies and John Reeder, two longtime board members of the society who passed away in 2012 and 2013.
The Brian Davies Memorial Grant for Alaska History supports creative projects and in-depth research that make a significant contribution to the study of Alaska history. Recipients of the John Reeder Memorial Travel Grant must be conducting research in a library or archives in Alaska. Each grant is in the range of $400 to $1,000. These grants can be used for classroom-based projects and other research. Applications are due by April 1 and are online at cookinlethistory.org. Recipients will be announced by mid-May.
