PALMER — Mat-Su Borough will showcase local artists John McOmber and Linda Henning at Madd Matters in Palmer Saturday evening. The art will hang until March 8.
Every year the borough has a poster contest for a select area or project. McOmber won last year for the Nordic ski area at Hatcher pass with an oil painting featuring local high schoolers racing through the spruce. The year before, Henning did a depiction of the M/V Susitna churning across the inlet. In 2009, the poster winner was Fred Hirschman’s photograph representing the Palmer Hay Flats Natural Science Education and Community Center.
In addition to the opportunity to meet the artists, buy a signed poster, view original art or purchase other original art from the artists, the borough also will announce details about this year’s project.
The prize is $1,500 and the call to artists is open to any art that can become a 28-by-22-inch poster. Patty Sullivan, the borough’s public affairs director, will be on hand to answer any questions from 6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 11, at Madd Matters Gallery, 1088 S. Colony Way in Palmer.
For more information, contact Madd Matters at 745-6045 or info@maddmatters.com, or Mat-Su Sullivan at 745-9577 or psullivan@matsugov.us.
