Palmer City-wide Clean Up Day is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., May 9. Pick up bags today at the Public Works office, 1316 S. Bonanza St. Yard waste composting is available at 11 a.m., May 8, at the Downtown Pavilion. Clean Up Day participants are invited to a barbecue lunch at noon, followed by the annual bicycle raffle at 1 p.m. For more information, contact 745-3400.

The 7th annual Valley Arts Alliance Raku Pottery Party begins at 2 p.m., May 9, at Pat Garley’s Arctic Fires Bronze in Palmer. Sandra Cook will conduct the workshop, which includes two pots to decorate. Participants decorate their pots with a variety of glazes, and then Cook fires the pots in one of her special portable Raku kilns. Participants will be able to take their creations home at the end of the workshop. Cost is $50 and is payable at the door. Seating is limited. The Palmer Museum will feature a special temporary exhibit of its 2015 Art Acquisition. Several local artists have submitted works comprised of various media in the hopes that the museum will purchase it through the Rasmuson Art Fund.
Meredith Mapes, with Fun on the Run Kennel, also will be on the museum lawn underneath the Big Top, sharing her knowledge and expertise on mushing.
The museum’s annual celebration is from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and will be catered by Humdinger’s Gourmet Pizza and will feature a beer-tasting hosted by Arkose Brewery. The event, which is free for museum members and $5 for non-members, includes music by gypsy jazz group, “Swing 49.”
