‘Beer Meets Chocolate’ is Oct. 8

Arkose Brewery and JB Chocolatier of Palmer have been collaborating on this event ever since Arkose opened its doors, and this anniversary tasting on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. is not to be missed. A custom chocolate adorned with the Arkose logo was specially designed for the brewery’s fourth anniversary this year. Participants receive four 8-ounce pours of hand-crafted ales, four hand-crafted chocolates and an anniversary glass for $25. There will be additional door prizes throughout the evening to include Arkose’s new stainless steel growler.

‘Beer Meets Canvas’ is Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. $30

Arkose Brewery invites the community to “Sip. Relax. Create.” while enjoying a tasty brew at their monthly “Beer Meets Canvas” Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. For this anniversary event — Arkose turns four this year — $30 covers one beer, all art supplies needed, and a free anniversary glass to take home. There will also be door prizes.

Arctic Chamber Orchestra visits WMS

Wasilla Middle School will host a free concert by the Arctic Chamber Orchestra on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. No tickets are required. The touring orchestra was founded in 1970 and has played in more than 130 different cities and villages in Alaska, the Yukon, Switzerland, Scandanavia, China and Spain. This year’s tour will feature soloist Teresa Eickel, who will perform six opera arias. Performances will include selections from Johan Strauss, Offenbach, Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, Mascagni, Catalani and Tchaikovsky.

Fly fishing film festival is Sept. 24

Canadian magazine Fly Fusion will present the International Fly Fishing Film Festival on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glenn Massay Theater in Palmer.

The festival includes short and feature-length films produced by professional filmmakers from all corners of the globe, showcasing the passion, lifestyle and culture of fly fishing.

Arkose Brewery will be serving their artfully crafted ales at the event. All beer sales will benefit a local nonprofit.

Advance tickets are $15 and are available for purchase at Mossy’s Fly Shop, Arkose Brewery and online at glennmassaytheater.com. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $18.

John Sebastian to play at Massay Theatre

Whistling Swan Productions will present John Sebastian, co-founder, lead vocalist and principal songwriter for the Lovin Spoonful (“Do you Belive in Magic?”) will play on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Massay Theatre in Palmer. For more information, visit whistlingswan.net.

CMS will host craft bazaar

‘The Hills are Alive’ at Colony Middle

Colony Middle Schools drama department will stage “The Sound of Music” starting Oct. 30. Showtimes are Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31 at 2 and 7 p.m., Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 7 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 each or $13 for dinner and show tickets fro the Nov. 6 and 7 evening performances. Rasmuson offers matching awards for art programs

The Rasmuson Foundation offers matching awards of up to $6,000 to support high-quality arts and cultural programs for youth outside the school day or year. Eligible programs provide regularly scheduled sessions over an extended period. Nonprofits, schools, and school districts are eligible to apply.
