Our beloved mother died peacefully September 3, 2022 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She was born in Helena, Montana.
She graduated from Mount Ellis Academy and Walla Walla College where she met her husband Weldon Opp. She obtained her Master’s in Education just after the birth of her third child. She raised five children in Anchorage Alaska and called Alaska home for over 50 years. Twenty years after Weldon’s death, she married Mel Waldal and moved to Wasilla, AK. Barbara enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, camping in Homer and visiting Talkeetna, AK. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She retired as a land adjudicator from BLM in Anchorage and moved near her daughter in Florida.
She is survived by her children Krystal (Tom) Tavasci, Diane Opp, Randy (Heidi) Opp, Shane (Estrella) Opp, Shaun Opp, and step daughter Robin DeFeyter; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
