Three members of Akasha, a Chicago-based reggae outfit, will be on tour with Alaska singer-songwriter Kevin Worrell, performing under his familiar band name “Beer Money.”
The group, which includes Doug Bistrow, John Barbush and Shane Jonas, will perform July 11 to 20 in Alaska, Worrell said. That includes a performance in Palmer during Friday Fling at 11 a.m., July 12 and ending the tour at the Fairview Inn in Talkeetna July 20.
Worrell said the tour includes two days of live music and workshops, sponsored by the Anchorage Music Co-op, for musicians and fans from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., July 16-17 at the Elmo Sacket Broadcasting Studio 3 in Anchorage.
“These workshops are a rare opportunity to get some exposure to seasoned professional performers and educators,” he said.
Alaska Public Media will host a free concert open to the public following the workshops both nights, Worrell said. Workshop topics include “Improvisation through Premeditation,” “Vocalizing Vulnerability,” and “The Fabric of Rhythm.”
