BUTTE — A well-known face in the local music scene is holding a benefit concert for a couple of her friends who need some help.
Lulu Small said her friends Steve and Talyne Belka recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, but have both come down with severe illnesses.
Talyne needs a double kidney transplant and has to travel to anchorage multiple times a week for dialysis. He has stomach cancer.
“I have launched a campaign to gather donations from community business and friends to be auctioned off at a musical fundraiser for the Belkas,” Small wrote in a letter announcing the campaign.
If you want to donate or think you might have an item that would do well in the planned auction, contact Small at 299-LULU or at lulusmall@yahoo.com.
Or, stop by the benefit event at Del Rois bar off the Old Glenn Highway starting at 3 p.m., Oct. 6.
